What made July special?
Proof of Life: Voice Notes
Where exactly is 2026 headed? Time has a funny way of slipping through our fingers, and somehow, July is already behind us.
As the month came to a close, I found myself revisiting one of my favourite Proof of Life experiments: voice notes from everyday people, sharing the moments that quietly shaped their lives.
This time, I asked a simple question:
What’s one memorable moment from July that will stay with you?
The answers reminded me why I love this series. They ranged from discovering the joy of a first pregnancy to pulling off successful events, celebrating personal wins, and finding meaning in moments that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.
Here are July’s stories, in their own voices.
Belle
“…Finding joy in seeing my people achieving their dreams.”
Wilfred
“…Hosting the first physical By Starlight event was special to me.”
CJ
“…I am to be a father for the first time.”
Morada
“The Solar conference was it for me.”
Ephraim
“…I riskily helped a stranger, and something positive came from it.”
Please record a message after the tone.
Voice note ends.
Things to do today
My good friend, Ofem Ubi, is hosting a rather unique exhibition.
It’s a collage of voices, thoughts, and perspectives. An idea I’ve heard him speak about countless times, yet I’m convinced what we’ll all experience will far exceed anything I’ve imagined.
If you’re looking for something worthwhile to do this weekend, consider this your invitation.
I’ll see you there.
We found our way BY STARLIGHT

Last week, the incredible people at SOHR Collective came together to bring our first physical By Starlight event to life.
It’s been an amazing journey over the past year, and this feels like just the beginning. I can’t wait to see the multidimensional impact we’ll continue to create across Africa’s creative economy.

Call for Questions.
Proof of Life is approaching its 50th episode.
To mark the milestone, I’m turning the tables. For the first time, I’ll be the guest. This is a humble request to ask your questions
Till next time, follow TBB here and here
If you loved these voice notes. You will love this as well.
How was your week?
A few weeks ago, I shared the progress of Proof of Life with my friends at SOHR’s potluck, and the feedback, love, and genuine excitement for how far this little newsletter has come were incredibly special to receive. It is always a beautiful thing to be reminded that something you started simply because it mattered to you has quietly started to matter …
