Proof of Life: The Collective Edition
Enjoy 10 Proofs Of Life from the amazing people in my life.
From trying archery for the first time, to leaving the family home, falling in love with breasts and writing, shedding weight, and finally learning the beauty of rest—life is happening in a thousand small and spectacular ways.
It feels fitting to share this as the rains wash away the last days of August, like a quiet reset. Moving forward, I’ll be widening the lens at the close of each month, spotlighting friends and voices from our growing Proof of Life community. This is a space to pause, to notice, and to celebrate the rhythms of becoming.
Without further ado, here’s Proof of Life through the lives of some of my favorite people.

My life is a proof… of God’s love, of course. 😂
Lately, I wake up feeling like a fried plantain someone forgot on the pan. No motivation, just vibes. But guess what? Bills won’t pay themselves 😭 so I drag myself to work like the responsible adult I didn’t ask to be.
Did I quit? No.
Am I happy where I am? Also no.
But am I grateful? 100%. 🙏🏽
Because somehow, eating rice and stew while struggling to fill out a content calendar for the month has become my new definition of "I’m managing." 😂
One day at a time, abeg.

My Proof of Life is in lifetime lessons I collect every day, like infinity stones. It’s feeling connected to a source greater than oneself. It’s in sprinting down the tracks and owning the pitch. Backing the Gunners following an impressive summer window.
It’s in wrestling with my demons, sometimes befriending them, and fighting the addictions that want to quench me. It’s in falling in love again with writing, creation and art. It’s in working smarter because I’ve learnt that life rarely gives you what you want and what you deserve, only what you demand and keep demanding. Putting up a good shift each morning so I can live a life that appears true on the outside and feels even truer on the inside.
My Proof of Life is in me starting an experience blog: straight out of Naija, admitting that remote jobs can be monotonous; sitting at a desk, adjacent to a made bed and hung artworks, standing as proof that at least one corner of my life is in order. It’s in catching up over a few drinks with longtime friends and being reminded, just this week, that I’ve squeezed myself into more situationships than I’ve been settled in exclusive ones. Yikes!
It’s in realising I’m developing a fondness for the architecture of the feminine chest (I’m gradually becoming a breast lover :) It’s in learning how to make local soups in my mother’s kitchen, all the secret recipes she learnt from her mother and mother’s mother. It’s in the dreams of returning to the pristine shores in Liberia, watching fashion ignite the runways in Paris, feeling the vibrant pulse of London, the warmth from Spain, and in admitting (shhh, don’t tell anyone) that Amala with Gbegiri and Ewedu might just be overrated.

My Proof Of Life is in the delivery of work for my clients at this time, being at the office and being at Church.
And that's just what my life is about now really - Church, Work, and friendships.
And I have a new obsession with making my hair now.
That, and everything in-between. Life be lifing anyways!

My proof of life is in the quality time i spend by myself. I learned that God can be trusted and patience has its reward. I live each day exploring new creativities in design and putting a smile on the faces of my clients with each project.
I’ve also been finding peace in irregular hobbies like archery, shooting ranges… ahead of the alien invasion 😌.

It is by demanding more that we get better.
Demand more from your government, employers, and significant others. Don’t settle, don’t shrink yourself but do not be forceful except they use force first. Instead leave. Quit.
If we all demanded more, the standard of existence would improve. The problem is, what mores are right to demand?

My Proof of life has been exploring my creative ideas I’ve had on the pad for a while now and it’s been nothing short of amazing and also testing new samples.. matter of fact I wore one out last weekend and it was bought off of my body at a handsome price.. Proud moment right there…

My proof of life is probably buried inside those “Dear Nsikak, Trust that this email finds you well…” chains. That’s the receipt that I’m here, moving, and delivering. I know it looks like I live inside my laptop, but I promise, I actually have a life outside the screen.
Grateful to God for holding me through what feels like an endless marathon. I pause to breathe, then keep moving — because let’s be honest, except God, no one is coming to save me.
Now, for the lighter struggles: I don’t eat onions. I’ve tried, several times, but it’s a permanent no. Unfortunately, onions don’t seem to respect boundaries. They show up everywhere. Sometimes, I just push the plate away and cook for myself. People never understand.
But here’s the best part of this season: I’ve somehow fallen in love, every single day, with copywriting. It’s how I get to add colour to other people’s lives, even while figuring out my own.
Life lately? It’s equal parts chaos, prayer, and copy. And maybe that’s enough proof of life.

My proof of life is in learning to rest daily. I’m navigating a tricky period in my life, but I don’t take for granted how far I’ve come. It’s okay for things not to move at the pace I hoped. I rest regardless.
I’ve lost 4kg in the past few weeks, thanks to my 10k+ daily steps and my (unwilling) abandonment of Tigernut Milk and its variants🥲

My Proof of life?
Facing my fear of water, learning to swim, trying out kayaking, enjoying the last days of summer, enjoying my last days as a single man, enjoying the new football season.

My Proof of Life is living in the goals I wrote down on the 1st of January 2025.
I went on a solo trip to explore the North and I have finally left my father’s house.
I am creating a space of love and peace. Oh! My hair is growing! Life is not all rosy but I am focusing on the good things!
And with that, I say C’mon September!!!

This is super beautiful
